Peregrina Quintela (1960) is Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Santiago, specialized in mathematical modelling, mathematical analysis and numerical simulation of physics, engineering, and applied sciences models. She has led several research projects and contracts with companies dealing with areas as diverse as the simulation of thermo-mechanical deformation in aluminium casting; the simulation of multi-physical phenomena in blast furnaces for steel production; the thermal and mechanical simulation of heat exchangers; thermomechanical deformation of filter bag structures or the development of safe packaging systems to ship large stones.

Peregrina has been founder and president of EU-MATHS-IN Spanish node, math-in (Spanish Network for Mathematics & Industry) from 2011 to 2021 and of the PET MSO-ED (Spanish Technology Platform for Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation in a Digital Environment) from 2021 to 2023.

Peregrina was executive Board member of EU-MATHS-IN from 2015 to 2023, acting as Vice-President in the last two year of her term. In 2022 she was nominated Chair of the OpenDesk Committee.

Jaroslav Kruis (1971) is a professor of numerical methods in civil engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal Computers & Structures, published by Elsevier. He is an honorary professor at the University of Pécs, Hungary. Jaroslav is a long-time chairman of the Czech part of the European network EU-MATHS-IN. His research focuses on numerical methods in various engineering problems, including the design of a deep repository for radioactive waste. He is active in solving large systems of linear and nonlinear systems of algebraic equations based on any type of domain decomposition method using parallel computers. Another area of his interest is a set of coupled thermal-humidity-mechanical problems. He is one of the main developers of the SIFEL code for coupled mechanical, thermal and other transport phenomena. This code is used in several European projects related to nuclear waste disposal. Jaroslav has served as a member of the scientific panel of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic.

Manuel Cruz (Portugal, 1974), holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Porto. Most of his work is related to Industrial Mathematics. Since 2007 he has participated, organized and promoted several European Study Groups with Industry (ESGI) held in Portugal. He managed several projects of technology transfer between mathematics and industry. He is coordinator of the Laboratório de Engenharia Matemática do Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (LEMA) since 2014.

In 2015 he was one of the promoters of the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (PT-MATHS-IN) where he served as elected president from 2016 till 2020. Since 2019, he is an elected member of the executive board of EU-MATHS-IN. In 2022 he was nominated as member of the OpenDesk Executive Committee.

Maria Di Domenico is a postdoctoral researcher for Sportello Matematico per l'Innovazione e le Imprese, Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo (IAC) - National Research Council of Italy.
Maria got her PhD (2021) in Mathematical Physics from the University of Salerno (Italy), then she held the role of postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering. She is Member of the Italian Istituto di Alta Matematica (INdAM), research group National Group of Mathematical Physics (GNFM). Her research deals with Mathematical Physics, in particular heat transfer in non-equilibrium thermodynamics, thermal waves in nanostructured materials, thermoelastic waves, heat transfer in functionally graded materials.
She worked as a contract teacher and Mathematic tutor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Informatics, Department of Industrial Engineering, Department of Business Sciences Management & Innovation Systems at University of Salerno (Italy).

Janusz Szwabiński (1974) is a Polish physicist based in Wrocław, Poland. He has a Diploma (1998) in theoretical physics from the University of Wrocław (Poland) and a Doctorate (2001) in natural sciences from the Saarland University, Sarbruecken, Germany. He is the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the head of PL-MATHS-IN, the Polish Network for Mathematics in Industry. He worked on several industrial and research projects on application topics from life sciences and engineering. Since 2022, he is a member of the OpenDesk committee.
